Water Factory Rahovec Central City Square

International Open Competition

with JIM (CAN)

2020

This project reaffirms the urban identity of Rahovec and accommodates the meaningful cultural landscape systems and materials that shape its territory.

This proposal—two squares for one center—identifies a civic commons of public services and shared spaces with a delineated urban threshold, which promotes economic, social, and environmental resilience as the city and community emerges from a troubled past and establishes a new structure for its future.

The heart of the project is a water factory—an infrastructural engine that transforms flooding problems into energetic potential. The new square provides a more stable source of water and power as a model for the rest of the region and country.
